Super 8 Camera

I need to know where i can pick up a GOOD Super-8 Camera for a fairly cheap price in the U.K. does any body have any good ideas?

Look for a model by Canon. I shoot with a Canon 514XL-S Super-8 camera and it's sturdy, easy-to-use & makes good, clean and sharp images. I bought mine for $200 Canadian dollars, but you can usually find it in the $100-150 range on Ebay. As a matter of fact, Ebay is probably the best place to look for Super-8 stuff. Just be careful & make sure that the stuff works; a lot of folks are selling off useless broken Super-8 antiques without mentioning that they don't work anymore.

I have a SANKYO and a CHINON DART.
Both good super8 Camera's.
I definatley recommend the CHINON DART, (its very small and very sturdy) - you need to get a light meter though to use it. - internal meter uses old illegal mercury or lithium batterys that you cant get anymore.

I went into a Camera shop last weekend, and they had a good few 8mm cameras for sale...

I saw one for 25 pounds (pound sign not working on this K.B), and was seriously tempted to buy it when I was told that there was no film stock now available for it...

I was told that they sold ones that DO work and there WAS film stock available for about 50 - 100 pounds.

This was Campkins Cameras, near Market Square in Cambridge...

They also sold the film for it as well...

13.99 pounds for 3 minutes (includes development of the film as well!)

You can still get
Super 8
Standard 8
and
double 8mm (standard 16mm, split down the middle)
film stock from the Widescreen centre, London - www.widescreen-centre.co.uk.
You cant get super8 sound film stock anymore.
My Chinon Dart cost 35 quid.

My Chinon Dart cost ?10 about 9 years ago and the lightmeter still works well enough to expose Kodachrome correctly.

Campkins in Cambridge are bloody useless. I went into their trade counter - KP Professional Sales in Clifton Road about 18 months to buy Ektachrome Super 8 stock and the manager laughed at me and said "Super 8! It's hardly the rage anymore, is it?"

Then why was I paid to shoot 6 rolls of the stuff for a time-lapse sequence at the Musee De Art Moderne in Paris as part of a BBC2 arts programme?

And they call themselves a "Professional Sales" counter. Plus all their second hand cameras are way overpriced. Clueless muppets.
